A sensation: The pre-event party of the Torpedo Run 2008 took place with Jamiroquai in Ahaus, Germany. The Grammy Award-winning band and their charismatic singer filled the audience with enthusiasm during live acts. The Torpedo Runners enjoyed an exclusive guest area, a great party, catering until late at night and other special amenities.
The Torpedo Run 2008 followed traditionally in September - already for the fourth year in succession. Drivers from 9 nations joined the TorpedoRun 2008 and electrified with supercars and rare exotics, including the world’s fastest Lamborghini by Edo Competition and a highered Monster Hummer.
Even the sign-in took place at a spectacular location: at the Tobit.Elements. There the participants became a pilot of a jet fighter. The simulators allowed unlimited twists of 360 degrees over the roll as well as over the pitch axes - a real adrenaline rush to put the Torpedo Runners in the right mood for a weekend loaded with fun and action.
The participating cars made the hearts leap with joy. Just to mention some: Porsche 997 GT2, Ferrari F355 GTS, Audi R8, Lamborghini Murciélago, Caterham CSR 200, Porsche Cayman S, Porsche 997 Turbo, Hummer H2, Corvette, a stylish tuned Mercedes SL and an athletic modified Citroën C-Crosser Select by Musketier. Again joined by a DeLorean DMC-12, the automotive star in the cult film “Back to the Future”. Cars who join the Torpedo Run are not classified. The event is about fun and passion.
Already the sound announced the arrival of the Edo Lamborghini Murciélago LP 710/2 from afar. It is the fastest and most powerful Lamborghini in the world. The power output was increased to 710 hp. As a result this Lamborghini reaches a top speed of 360 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a phenomenal 3.2 seconds. By the dark paint and other modifications the Edo Murciélago almost looked like an automotive stealth bomber.
Another eyecatcher was the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph stickered up like a US police car. The “Daisy Patrol” celebrated the Torpedo Run - like everybody else - from the beginning to the end. Already in series a Hummer H2 looks like a muscular giant. But highered, this American offroader became a real monster in the streets. Of course, the drivers acted like musclemen - with the help of foam costumes.
„Torpedo Run in the altitudes“ was the motto of Torpedo Run 2009 that was taken literally. At the Air-Power-Arena in Hückelhoven (Germany) the Topedo Runners felt the weightlessness while bodyflying. A vertically oriented airstream moved the bodies "weightless" into the air. That was pure action!
We stayed gorgeous overnight in royal Versailles at the gates of Paris. The legendary hotel “Trianon Palace” was located in a big park in the neighbourhood of the famous Palace of Versailles, residence of King Louis XIV. The luxury hotel was like a palace and in the restaurant of star chef Gordon Ramsay we went on a culinary journey of discovery. After dinner it was time to celebrate a funky party at the “Cabaret”, one of Paris’s hottest nightclubs.
